The Child Abuse Prevention Network operates as a collaborative among its members and partners. Major sources of support have come from the U.S. Department of Commerce, which provided a one-year planning grant, from the U.S. Army Family Advocacy Program, under a cooprative agreement with the USDA Extension Service, from the U.S. Department of Justice, (Office for Victims of Crime) and from the Network's home base at Cornell University's College of Human Ecology, and it's Family Life Development Center. Cornell has provided additional valuable partnerships through Cornell Information Technologies, and Cornell's Vice Provost for Research. Considerable technical and sponsorship support has come from LifeNET, Inc., which is also dedicated to finding outside support for the financial furure of our network. The Network could not exist without support from the whole field of child abuse and neglect. We have an average of 30,000 unique visitors every month. In addition, we provide access to over 6,500 professionals in research and related fields through various affiliated electronic mailing lists, including the National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect, Child-Abuse-L for professionals in the field, SIGCA-MD-L for physician and those invovled in the clinical issues, Child-Fatal-L for professionals committed to prevention of child fatalities, CANDo for those dedicated to protecting children with disabilities,and SBSpro for the particular issue of Shaken Baby Syndrome.
